Townley Elementary School is closed today, Thursday, August 29, due to a power outage caused by a transformer issue, according to a statement from Irving Independent School District (ISD). Oncor crews have been working diligently through the night to address the problem, but power has not yet been restored.
Irving ISD confirmed that school has been canceled for all students and staff at Townley Elementary today. The district noted that because of additional daily instructional minutes already built into the school calendar, students will NOT need to make up the missed day.
Oncor crews continue to work on the necessary repairs to restore power to the school. Townley Elementary families will receive updates via School Messenger phone calls, emails, and texts. Updates will also be posted on the official Irving ISD social media platforms and the district's website, IrvingISD.net.
UPDATE: The necessary repairs have been made and power has been restored at Townley Elementary School. School day operations will resume as normal on Friday morning, August 30.
