Keller Man Arrested After Shooting Friend, Found with Illegal Weapons and Body Armor

On Monday, August 26, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Keller police responded to a call about an unknown disturbance in the 900 block of South Main Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim informed the officers that he had been shot by his friend, Kevin “River” Stacy, at a residence located along the 800 block of Santa Fe Trail. The injured man was taken to a local hospital, treated for a non-life-threatening injury, and later released.

Keller Police Department detectives, assisted by the North Tarrant Regional SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at Stacy’s residence. During the search, authorities discovered several illegal weapons, body armor, and evidence indicating a shooting had taken place. Investigators determined that Stacy had fled the scene immediately following the incident.

Detectives worked continuously to identify witnesses and locate Stacy. The search came to an end on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m. when undercover officers spotted Stacy riding in a vehicle near his home. Uniformed officers took Stacy into custody shortly afterward without incident.

Kevin Riverle Stacy, 29, of Keller, Texas, was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02(a)(2)) and Possession of Prohibited Weapons (PC 46.05). His mother, Kimberly Stacy, who was driving the vehicle in which Stacy was located, was also taken into custody on charges of Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution (PC 38.05).
