Dallas Mavericks Sign Multi-Year Broadcast Deal with TEGNA, Expanding Free Game Coverage Across Texas

The Dallas Mavericks have announced a new multi-year broadcast rights agreement with TEGNA (NYSE: TGNA) to bring all Mavericks games not aired nationally to approximately 10 million people in Texas, free over-the-air, nearly tripling the number of households the Mavericks can now reach statewide.

Beginning with the Mavericks vs. Suns game on October 26, TEGNA station KMPX Dallas-Ft. Worth (Ch. 29) will broadcast all non-national games – 70 or more in the first season – with 15 or more games simulcast on WFAA Dallas-Ft. Worth (Ch. 8). These games will also air on TEGNA stations in Waco (KCEN and KAGS), Tyler (KYTX), Midland-Odessa (KWES), Abilene (KXVA), and San Angelo (KIDY).

WFAA is now the official local broadcast partner of the Mavericks and will provide extensive team coverage through sports anchor Joe Trahan. TEGNA will lead local and regional advertising and sponsorship sales, and additional Texas markets are expected to be announced soon.

Patrick Dumont, governor of the Mavericks, stated, “Our new agreement with TEGNA helps meaningfully deliver on that goal by broadcasting more games to more local homes than in any period in franchise history.”

Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall added, “Building on the overwhelmingly positive feedback received, we look forward to providing millions more Mavs fans access to watch our games throughout the entire season.”

Brad Ramsey, senior vice president of media operations at TEGNA, noted, “We are thrilled to build off of that momentum and make every game, home or away, available to more fans, in more homes.”

Fans can find details on game broadcasts by market at mavs.com/broadcast. Spanish-language content on Ch. 29 will move to a different channel before the season begins, and KMPX will transition into a locally programmed independent station. Fans can visit wfaa.com/mavs for information on watching games free over-the-air.
