On August 22, 2024, 34-year-old Edwin Alexander Martinez-Acevedo was found guilty of Indecency With a Child by Exposure. The charges relate to an incident on September 16, 2022, when Martinez-Acevedo was seen exposing himself while parked down the street from a middle school in Irving. He was observed through binoculars from his car, which was facing the school.
Two students walking to school saw Martinez-Acevedo's genitals and immediately contacted their mother, who instructed them to call 911. The students also took a photo of the defendant’s car, which had a unique license plate.
Irving Police Officers responded quickly, located the vehicle, and detained Martinez-Acevedo, who could not provide a valid explanation for his presence near the school. He has been sentenced to two years in prison and is required to register as a sex offender. Martinez-Acevedo is also identified as an illegal immigrant in the U.S.
