Juvenile Suspects Flee After Shooting in Little Elm, House Struck by Gunfire

Wanted suspect

The Little Elm Police Department reported a shooting on Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of Flamingo Drive in Paloma Creek. No victims have been found, but a residence was damaged by gunfire. The suspects, described as juvenile males, fled the scene on foot.

According to a preliminary investigation, the incident began at EZ Mart located on South Paloma and Highway 380. The suspects chased another male south onto Flamingo Drive, firing at him during the pursuit. Gunfire struck a house during the chase.

Due to the shooting, a lockdown was placed at Braswell High School. In the latest communications from Denton ISD, the lockdown has since been lifted. The district stated:

“The lockdown at Braswell High School has been lifted, and all students/staff are being dismissed. Out of an abundance of caution, our campus was placed on lockdown at 5:10 p.m. after school had been dismissed due to a nearby police situation.

Both tonight’s Braswell High Open House and the games between Cheek and Rodriguez Middle Schools have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. All middle school students have returned to their campuses via bus.

We applaud the efforts of our students, coaches and staff for remaining calm and cooperative. The proactive response by the Little Elm Police Dept. helped keep our students and staff safe during an evolving situation.

If you or your student ever learn or receive information that would be helpful to us regarding the safety of our campus or one of our students, know that we have a system in place for reporting. Students and parents can download the easy-to-use STOPit app which allows you to report safely and anonymously anything of concern to school officials.

The district’s use of this app is a proactive step towards empowering all students to become upstanding citizens in their communities and doing so in a way that they feel most comfortable. To learn more about STOPit, please visit www.dentonisd.org/stopit.”

The Little Elm Police Department is working with School Resource Officers (SROs) to identify those involved. They are also asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual seen in a video from the EZ Mart earlier in the day.

If you have any information, please contact CIDemail@littleelm.org or call our non-emergency line at 214-975-0460.

The investigation remains ongoing.
