Irving Police Summer Hoops/Kicks camps for students underway

The Irving Police Department’s Summer Hoops/Kicks camps are underway and will continue through August 5. The free programs are designed to provide a safe and secure option for kids who might otherwise have trouble staying busy during the summer. The Hoops camp is for kids ages 10-14 and focuses on basketball while the Kicks camp is for ages 8-14 and focuses on soccer.

Students will be able to practice their fundamental basketball and soccer skills, learn team work, and get to know their School Resource Officers outside of a school setting. All of the program instructors are Irving Police Officers.

The Hoops camp will take place daily from 9 a. m. to 1 p.m. at the Sam Houston Recreation Center, 3033 West Country Club.

The Kicks camp will take place daily from 9 a.m. to noon at the Santa Maria de la Guadalupe Church, 2601 South MacArthur Boulevard.
