Irving HS Graduate Nick Haines Hits Winning Shot for Concordia Texas
Nick Haynes (Irving, Texas/Irving HS) was named the American Southwest Conference Men's Basktball West Division Player of the Week today after averaging 24.5 points in two victories, which included draining a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give his team a 90-87 conference win over Texas-Dallas.

Concordia is now 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The team has won three straight and five of its last six. Haynes is averaging over 19 points per game this season and has made a league-best 25 3-point field goals.

Austin, Texas - Concordia University Texas' Nick Haynes (Irving, Texas/Irving) has been named the American Southwest Conference Men's Basketball West Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Sunday, Dec. 23. He is earning the award for the first time this season and second time of his career.
Haynes, a native of Irving who is a team representative on the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), fueled two victories for the Tornados by averaging 24.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. He most notably hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that gave Concordia a 90-87 conference win against Texas-Dallas. The senior guard netted 28 points in a 108-81 victory against Northwood despite logging just 16 minutes of playing time before scoring 21 against the Comets. In addition to averaging nearly 25 points, Haynes shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe, 53.8 percent from the floor and 55 percent from long range over the two wins.
Concordia (5-2, ASC 4-1), which has won three straight games and five of its last six, will compete against Edgewood and Rust at a tournament hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor on Dec. 28-29 before welcoming nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point to the CTX Field House on Dec. 31.
