MacArthur's girls basketball team has had a tremendous season so far. They currently rank 9th in Texas according MaxPreps, being ranked as high as 2nd at one point this season. They are coached by Suzie Oelschlegel.

The success of Mac's team is evident in their record of 29-2, but it is shown by the way the team plays. The team demonstrates an unselfish nature. They are lead by PG Odyssey Sims who averages 17.7 points per game, as well as 6.4 assists per game. Guard Raven Mosley and Forward Jenise Gentry are solid players. One positive surprise has been Freshman Alexis Jones who is averaging 10 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. She certainly has a great future and will keep Mac competitive for many years.

Coach Oelschlegel attributes the success of this season to a "great mixture of veterans and newcomers." Coach adds that "This is the most talented group of young ladies we've ever had (at MacArthur)."

There is a mixture of size, skill and speed. The team is built for a long, deep, run into the playoffs. They have the talent to make it to Austin this year.

The team motto is "No excuses, just results". It's worked out well so far.

The Lady Cards won the Coca Cola DISD Tournament and the Allen Invitational Tournament this year (2008-2009). They also finished second in the prestigious Georgetown Invitational Tournament loosing the final to Lubbock Coronado.

The Lady Cards are currently in a first place tie in District 7-5A after deafeating the Irving Lady Tigers on Friday night, 84 - 33.

They will close district play on February 10th against Cedar Hill, who upset Mac a couple of weeks ago by a score of 54 - 49.
