Who will the Cowboys take in the Second Round?

At this time of year, there are so many scenarios presented right before the draft.  The Cowboys do not have a first rounder this year due to the Roy Williams trade, but they will have some good choices in the second round with the 51st pick.

 

It has been speculated in the media that Jerry Jones might move up in the draft to get a receiver, but if they stay put with the 51st, ESPN's Matt Mosley reported that they might be looking at Western Michigan safety Louis Delmas if he is available at that spot.  Another realistic possibility could be Patrick Chung, a 5'11" 212 lb safety out of Oregon.

 

"Although Dallas does not have a first-round pick, do not be surprised if it is active in trying to move up into the first round. Two of the strengths of this team going into last season were expected to be the secondary and receiver positions. After trading cornerback Anthony Henry and waving wide receiver Terrell Owens those positions now have holes to fill, " reports Jeremy Green of Scouts Inc.

 

Word out of Valley Ranch is that they are content with the receivers they have and want to give Miles Austin an opportunity to prove he is worthy of being part of the offense.  If they truly do feel that way, then they might take a receiver in the third round that they can develop.

 

The Cowboys have worked out North Carolina receiver Brandon Tate and Ohio State's Brian Robiskie.  Both would be great picks, but I doubt they'll be available at the 51st pick.  One guy that I have been impressed with is Juaquin Iglesias, the receiver from Oklahoma, if we can't get Robiskie.

 

One thing is for sure, they will need to pick a safety somewhere in the draft, although they now have Gerald Sensabaugh written in to replace the release Roy Williams (the safety).  The offensive line is also an area of concern and should be addressed on Saturday, but it should happen in the second or third round.

 

The Cowboys have 10 picks in the 2009, one pick in the second at #51, one in the third at #69, two in the fourt at #101 and #117, two fifth rounders at #166 and #172, two sixth rounders at #197 and #208 and two seveth rounders at #210 and #227.

 

It's very hard to predict what exactly will develop during draft day, but it should be a fun ride with Jerry and company.
