Science Teacher Secures Jersey Number of Injured Player
Ezequiel Villarreal, a senior football player at MacArthur High School, was involved in a play in the first game of the season where he ended up breaking his tibia and fibula. The injury resulted in him having surgery to place two rods in his lower leg, ending his season for his senior year.
Ezequiel's science teacher, Janis Davis, took steps to secure the number from his jersey, which the medics had to cut off of him that evening. She had the team sign a matte border, and had his jersey number framed. It was presented to him during a varsity team meeting.
