Child Drownings Update/Arrest by Irving Police
On Friday, July 10, Irving Police officers arrested Patricia Denise Allen, 30 years old, in connection with the drowning deaths of three of her children. On Wednesday, June 24, Irving Police and Irving Fire Department personnel were called to the MacArthur Place at 183 apartments in the 2300 block of North MacArthur Blvd on reports of a drowning. Officers and paramedics arrived to find Anthony Smith, 11 years old, August Smith, 10 years old, and Treshawn Smith, 9 years old had drowned while playing in the pool. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, all three children later died at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
Detectives investigated the drownings as accidental deaths; however, during the course of the investigation they discovered facts and evidence that constituted a criminal offense. After consulting with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, the decision was made to file a criminal complaint related to the three drowning deaths.
Patricia Denise Allen is currently being held in the Irving City Jail on one count of Injury to a Child, a Second Degree Felony. Her bond is set at $50,000 and her booking photo is attached.
