FC Dallas signs midfielder David Ferreira
Our first report, is that FC Dallas has signed an attacking center midfielder from Colombia, David Ferreira. Ferreira comes from Clube Atletico Paranaense in the Brazilian First Division.
"Throughout the history of the League, the majority of teams who have won the MLS Cup had a strong attacking center midfielder, who was a game changer. In Ferreira, we feel that we’ve added that same type of player," said General Manager Michael Hitchcock.
FC Dallas has made several acquisitions during the winter to prepare itself for a strong season. Left-side midfielder Dave van den Bergh came via a trade with the New York Red Bulls. The defensive line was upgraded with the acquisitions of Steve Purdy from 1860 Munich in Germany, Costa Rican international Daniel Torres, and George John, a 2009 1st round pick.
On a separate deal, defender Adrian Serioux was traded to Toronto FC for a 2010 1st round pick and allocation money.
