Keith Urban to Perform at Super Bowl XLV

Three-time Grammy Award winner KEITH URBAN will help kick off Super Bowl XLV as part of the pregame festivities at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas on Sunday, February 6, the NFL and FOX Sports announced today. FOX SUPER BOWL SUNDAY pregame coverage begins at 2:00 PM ET.

The appearance marks Urban’s return to North Texas where, just this past November, he rocked an audience of millions with an electrifying halftime performance at the Thanksgiving Day game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints.

Urban’s Super Bowl XLV performance will feature music from his recently released CD Get Closer, and will serve to kick off his just announced on-sale dates (to begin February 11) for his “Get Closer 2011 World Tour”, which will begin on June 16 in Mississippi.

More than 153 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s Super Bowl, the most-watched television program in history. The pregame show and Super Bowl XLV will be broadcast worldwide.

Urban’s recently released sixth studio CD Get Closer follows two previous consecutive Billboard country and pop #1 albums, as well a five previous CDs, all of which have been certified platinum or better. He is the first artist to have ever won the Country Music Associations Horizon Award and Entertainer of the Year Award. He has sold nearly 20 million CDs, is a three-time Grammy Award winner, and has won a People’s Choice and American Music Award. He won five Academy of Country Music Awards, had 11 #1s, including 21 Top 5 hits.

The NFL previously announced that THE BLACK EYED PEAS will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show.
