MacArthur Lady Cardinals Soar
Members of the MacArthur High School Girls' Basketball Team will be honored on the national level throughout the next several months.
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tennessee, will place Junior Alexis Jones's jersey on display in the Hall's "Ring of Honor" in recognition of her outstanding play for the 2010-2011 season. Jones has also been named Chevy Female Athlete of the Year for 2010-2011.
Jones and Baylor University freshman guard Odyssey Sims, 2010 MacArthur graduate, will join 34 other basketball players at the USA Women's U19 World Championship Team trials. By invitation-only, the trials are scheduled for May 22-25 at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Karmyn Jackson, senior at MacArthur, has been selected to represent the school on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star Team. Jackson will play May 20 at Trinity University in San Antonio during the TGCA coaches' convention/clinic.
In addition to individual awards, MacArthur Lady Cardinals Basketball Team has been named the 2011 Chevy Team of the Year.
