Section of Sam Houston Trail Park to Close for Grapevine Creek Repair Project

IRVING, Texas - A section of the trail at Sam Houston Trail Park in Irving will temporarily close as crews begin repair work along Grapevine Creek, with the project expected to continue for several months.

The Dallas County Utility and Reclamation District is working to repair paving along the creek. As part of the project, crews will haul dirt and rock into the work area.

For safety, a portion of the trail at the north end of Sam Houston Trail Park will be closed while construction is underway. Trail users will still be able to travel around the closed section.

Crews will trim some trees along the route and place plywood covered with dirt over portions of the trail to allow construction equipment to cross. Safety netting will also be installed around the work zone.

Officials are asking walkers, runners and cyclists to use caution near the construction area and follow posted safety measures.

The project is expected to take several months, but an estimated completion date has not been announced.

Sam Houston Trail Park is located at 101 E. Interstate 635. The park includes a scenic 3.2-mile section of Irving's Campion Trail system along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
