Grapevine Youth Leader, Football Coach Arrested on Child Sexual Abuse Charge

Grapevine Youth Leader, Football Coach Arrested on Child Sexual Abuse Charge
Carlos Ernesto Ramos

GRAPEVINE, Texas - Grapevine police are investigating whether there may be additional victims after arresting a former church youth leader and youth football assistant coach on a child sexual abuse charge.

Carlos Ernesto Ramos, 39, was arrested Aug. 26 on a charge of sexual abuse of a child, according to Grapevine police. He is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $500,000 bond.  The victim was under 14.

Police said Ramos served as a volunteer youth leader at a Grapevine church from 2020 through 2023. He was also active in the community as an assistant coach for a youth football league from 2022 through 2024.

Investigators said the only allegation currently known to police involves an incident in 2023. Authorities have not released details about the accusation because of the victim's age and the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Detectives are now trying to determine whether other children may have experienced inappropriate conduct involving Ramos.

Police stressed that parents do not need to contact investigators simply because their child knew Ramos or participated in a church or football group he led. The department is asking parents or guardians to come forward if their child has made a disclosure or if they have specific information indicating their child may have experienced inappropriate conduct involving Ramos.

Anyone with information related to the investigation can contact Detective Velez with the Grapevine Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division at 817-410-3268 or CIDMail@grapevinetexas.gov. The case number is 2600035184.
